From the countless red carpet events to the Olympic ceremonies, it has been one great year for British fashion.
And now the nominations have landed for the British Fashion Awards 2012.
The event, which is the most celebrated of the year in the fashion world, showcases the year’s most acclaimed designers.
After her kit-designing efforts at this Summer’s Games, it is no surprise that Stella McCartney is in the running for Designer Of The Year along with Mary Kantrantzou and Christopher Kane.
Burberry and Mulberry have also made the cut for the award, which will be given to a British brand that has made an impact on the international fashion scene.
Spice Girl turned fashion extraordinaire Victoria Beckham is also in the running.
Although she is new to the British fashion scene, her designs have made a splash in both the UK and across the pond with numerous A-listers rushing out to get their hands on her figure-hugging dresses.
Roksanda Ilincic, the Duchess of Cambridge and fashion ambassador Samantha Cameron’s choice of designer is also a firm contender.
For the event’s eye-candy, David Gandy will attempt to beat Cara Delevigne and Jourdan Dunn to the crown of best model.
As for Outstanding Achievement Award and British Style award of the year, which Alexa Chung has taken home for the past two years, the public will cast their vote to crown the new winner.
Harold Tillman, chairman of the British Fashion Council, who announced the nominees at the Savoy last night, said: ”2012 has been a momentous year and seen a nationwide celebration of British talent.
‘The British Fashion Awards recognise and celebrate the exceptional individuals and brands who’ve defined out fashion industry over the past year and we’re incredibly proud to announce these nominees who represent a cross section of British fashion talent.’
The British Fashion Awards will take place on November 27.
